Product overview

The WD Ultrastar DC HC520 (He12) 12TB (HUH721212AL5200) is a helium-sealed, CMR enterprise drive for dual-port SAS storage arrays and servers that demand the reliability and multipath resilience of a true SAS interface. Important for fitment: the AL suffix means this is the 12Gb/s SAS model, not SATA, so it needs a SAS controller or backplane, not a SATA port. It is rated for a 550 TB/yr workload with a 2.5M-hour MTBF, a proven capacity workhorse for RAID.
