Product overview

The Ubiquiti AM-2G16-90 is a carrier-class 2x2 MIMO BaseStation sector antenna designed for Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) wireless networks operating in the 2.3-2.7 GHz frequency band. Delivering 16-17 dBi antenna gain with a 90° horizontal beamwidth and 9° elevation beamwidth, this antenna provides excellent coverage for medium-range deployments. The dual-linear polarization with 28 dB minimum cross-pol isolation ensures superior signal quality and interference rejection. Built for durability, it withstands winds up to 200 km/h (125 mph) and includes universal pole mount, RocketM bracket, and weatherproof RF jumpers. The 4° electrical downtilt and 1.5:1 maximum VSWR optimize performance in real-world installations. Seamlessly integrating with Ubiquiti Rocket radios, this antenna is ideal for ISPs, wireless carriers, and enterprise networks requiring reliable long-range sector coverage with minimal maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum coverage distance of the AM-2G16-90?

Coverage distance depends on radio power, receiver sensitivity, and terrain. With 16-17 dBi gain and typical Rocket radio specifications, expect 5-15 km line-of-sight range in PtMP configurations. The 90° beamwidth provides sector coverage suitable for medium-range deployments. Actual range varies with environmental conditions and link budget calculations.

Is the AM-2G16-90 compatible with non-Ubiquiti radios?

The antenna uses standard RP-SMA connectors and operates in the 2.3-2.7 GHz band, making it compatible with any radio using RP-SMA connectors in this frequency range. However, Ubiquiti designs it specifically for Rocket radios. Verify connector type and frequency compatibility with third-party equipment before deployment.

What mounting options are included?

The antenna includes a universal pole mount, RocketM bracket, and weatherproof RF jumpers. The universal mount accommodates standard 1.5-2 inch poles. The RocketM bracket enables direct integration with Ubiquiti Rocket radios. Additional mounting hardware may be required for non-standard installations or alternative pole sizes.

How does the 4° electrical downtilt improve performance?

Electrical downtilt tilts the antenna's radiation pattern downward without physical repositioning, optimizing coverage for subscriber locations below the antenna height. This reduces wasted energy directed skyward and minimizes interference to distant areas. The 4° downtilt is factory-set and cannot be adjusted in the field.

What does 28 dB cross-pol isolation mean for network performance?

Cross-pol isolation measures how well the antenna separates signals on orthogonal polarizations. 28 dB isolation means vertical and horizontal polarizations experience minimal interference, enabling simultaneous dual-polarization transmission. This improves spectral efficiency and reduces co-channel interference in dense deployments.

Is the AM-2G16-90 suitable for hurricane-prone regions?

Yes. The antenna withstands winds up to 200 km/h (125 mph), exceeding most hurricane wind speeds. Wind loading is 133.4 N at maximum speed. Ensure proper installation on structurally sound mounts rated for this wind loading. ETSI compliance confirms suitability for extreme weather environments.

What frequency bands does this antenna support?

The AM-2G16-90 operates in the 2.3-2.7 GHz band, covering 2.4 GHz unlicensed spectrum used globally. This range supports ISM band applications and various regional regulations. Verify local spectrum regulations before deployment in your region.
