What PoE capabilities does the HPE JL817-61101 provide?

It offers 8x 10/100/1000Base-T ports with IEEE 802.3at Class 4 PoE at 30W/port and 4x ports with IEEE 802.3bt Class 6 PoE at 60W/port, supporting a total budget up to 360W. Always-on PoE maintains power to devices during firmware upgrades or reboots, ideal for critical IP cameras and sensors.

Is the JL817-61101 suitable for industrial environments?

Yes, DIN rail mountable with fanless passive cooling, it operates from -40°C to +70°C. Meets EN 61000-4-4 (4kV EFT with surge protectors), EN 61000-4-6 conducted immunity, and IEC 60068-2-27 shock standards, perfect for substations, rail signaling, and factories.

What uplink options are available on this switch?

Two 100/1G/10G SFP+ ports enable flexible connectivity to 10GbE aggregation switches or fiber runs. Supports wire-speed non-blocking forwarding, reducing latency for east-west traffic in IoT or campus deployments.

Does it support switch stacking and high availability?

Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) allows stacking up to 4 units into a single logical switch for simplified management and redundancy. IEEE 802.1s MSTP provides loop prevention across VLANs.

What management and security features are included?

Layer 2 managed with no licensing required. Features 802.1X authentication, MACsec encryption, ACLs, and traffic shaping via 802.1p CoS, DiffServ, and rate limiting. IPv6 compliant with large buffers for congestion management.

What power supply options does it support?

External DC input: 12V (50-60W at 60-70°C), 24V (150W), or 48-55V DC (150-180W). No power sharing; optimized for industrial PSUs in harsh conditions.
