What type of antenna is the HPE J8997A ProCurve model?

The HPE J8997A is specified as a ProCurve 3 dBi Dual Band Diversity Antenna and is further categorized as a 3 dBi ceiling mounted spatial omnidirectional array. This means it is designed to provide omnidirectional coverage from a ceiling mounted position while supporting dual band diversity operation in compatible wireless designs.

What gain does the J8997A antenna provide?

The J8997A is a 3 dBi antenna, as indicated in its model name and category description. This 3 dBi gain level is suitable for many indoor enterprise deployments where a moderate, predictable gain is preferred to maintain controlled coverage patterns and avoid excessive signal reach beyond target areas.

How is the J8997A intended to be installed in an indoor environment?

The J8997A is categorized as a ceiling mounted spatial omnidirectional array. This indicates that it is designed to be installed on ceilings, integrating with typical ceiling infrastructures while providing omnidirectional RF coverage within the space. Ceiling mounting helps achieve consistent line of sight to user devices throughout the room or area.

Does the J8997A support dual band and diversity operation?

Yes, the J8997A is explicitly described as a Dual Band Diversity Antenna. This designation indicates that it supports operation across two RF bands and is intended for use in diversity enabled designs, where multiple RF paths are used by compatible wireless systems to improve link robustness and performance.

What kind of coverage pattern does the J8997A provide?

The J8997A is identified as a spatial omnidirectional array, which indicates that it is designed to distribute RF energy in an omnidirectional pattern around its mounting point. When ceiling mounted, this helps provide coverage for user devices located in multiple directions within the same indoor area.

Product overview

The Hewlett Packard Enterprise ProCurve 3 dBi Dual Band Diversity Antenna J8997A is a ceiling mounted spatial omnidirectional array designed for wireless deployments that require dual band support and diversity. As part of the ProCurve portfolio, this antenna provides a 3 dBi gain in a dual band configuration, supporting environments that need consistent signal performance. The ceiling mounted design aligns with standard indoor installation practices and helps position the antenna for broad coverage. Its spatial omnidirectional array construction is suited to applications where coverage is required in multiple directions within an enclosed area. With dual band diversity operation, the antenna supports use cases where radio diversity is a design requirement. This model focuses on predictable RF characteristics and straightforward integration into existing ProCurve based wireless infrastructures that are designed around dual band diversity antenna solutions.
